Ryan T. Kern, MD, President With a medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and a bachelor’s degree in physics, Dr. Kern brings a unique background in physics, medicine and information technology to his leadership of Optima’s operations. His operations background includes several years of commercial medical software development, as well as relevant web design and IT engineering experience. Dr. Kern was drawn to Optima Neuroscience by his interest in emerging medical technology that can improve the quality of patient care. |

J. Chris Sackellares, MD, Chief Scientific Officer Dr. Sackellares, a neurologist with special expertise in epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology, is a co-founder of Optima Neuroscience. In 1988, while he was Professor of Neurology and Biomedical Engineering, he began pioneering work, in collaboration with Dr. Leonidas Iasemidis, on nonlinear dynamics and epilepsy. This work continued and expanded under his direction in the Brain Dynamics Laboratory which he established at the University of Florida Brain Institute. This multidisciplinary research resulted in patented technology on seizure warning and prediction. As Chief Scientific Officer, he directs all scientific research at Optima Neuroscience. |

Deng-Shan Shiau, PhD, VP of Scientific Affairs Dr. Shiau began his research in seizure detection and prediction as a graduate student at the University of Florida in 1997. After obtaining his doctorate in statistics, Dr. Shiau joined the faculty at the University of Florida McKnight Brain Institute and continued to study seizure prediction and control under several NIH funded initiatives. He has special expertise in biostatistics and nonlinear multidimensional time series analysis. Dr. Shiau is responsible for the oversight of all aspects of product development, leading both the brain monitoring and seizure control development teams. |

Amanda M. Burks, MAIB, Director of Operations Ms. Burks is a business operations professional with extensive experience working with early-stage technology companies. She has supported multiple companies through the process of initiating and successfully completing private equity offerings. Her background also includes a master’s degree in international business from the University of Florida. Ms. Burks is primarily responsible for operations at Optima including investor relations, business development, grant administration and human resources. |

Tim Tucker, VP of Engineering Mr. Tucker is an accomplished electrical engineer, entrepreneur and founder of Tucker-Davis Technologies, a market-leading EEG and neurophysiology electronics company. Mr. Tucker brings the resources of a full complement of experienced hardware engineers at TDT to the Optima team. In business over 20 years, TDT’s innovative products are in use by neurophysiology labs all over the world. Mr. Tucker will be designing and prototyping the first generation of Optima’s CereScope™ monitor. |

Richard R. Allen, Director Mr. Allen co-founded Regeneration Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:RTIX) in 1998. In the start-up stage of RTIX, he developed the company's initial strategic business plan and helped negotiate the successful spin-off of the underlying RTIX technology from the University of Florida. As CFO of RTIX he negotiated the initial venture capital investments for the company and coordinated the company's IPO in August 2000. As CFO he had responsibility for finance & accounting, business development, IT, HR, IR, IP and M&A. Mr. Allen has nearly 30 years of experience in business and finance, including 16 years in executive leadership positions with technology-based businesses, in areas as diverse as mechanical engineering, electronics, biomedical technology, photovoltaics and medical device manufacturing. |
