Cyberonics, Inc. (NASDAQ: CYBX) pioneered the Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS TherapyŽ) System. Founded in 1987 to design, develop and market implantable medical devices for the treatment of epilepsy and other debilitating neurological disorders, Cyberonics has emerged as a leader in the neuromodulation industry.
Based in Melbourne, Australia, Compumedics is a global leader in computer-based patient monitoring and diagnostic systems with a focus on on the fast growing Sleep Medicine and Neurology markets.
Under the direction of Tim Tucker, all hardware and electronics will be designed and built at Tucker-Davis Technologies. TDT has a fully vertical neurophysiology electronics facility capable of handling all stages of hardware development. TDT has been designing, manufacturing and selling innovative neurophysiology products for over 20 years.
Directed by Dr. Kevin M. Kelly, MD, PhD, the ASRI Neurophysiology Laboratory works closely with Optima Neuroscience to further scientific research including NIH funded initiatives. Dr. Kelly and his colleagues are among the leaders in the field of EEG research with particular expertise in conducting studies using animal models of temporal lobe epilepsy.
Optima has formed a close partnership with the UF Center for Applied Optimization for the enhancement of algorithms used in seizure detection and prediction. Under the direction of Dr. Panos Pardalos, the Center for Applied Optimization facilitates joint research and applied projects among faculty from multiple disciplines including engineering, mathematics and business.
NINDS is a branch of the National Institutes of Health focused on reducing the burden of neurological disease. NINDS has supported Optima Neuroscience's research efforts through federal grants.
Edwards, Angell, Palmer & Dodge provides corporate legal and intellectual property counsel to Optima Neuroscience. The firm specializes in meeting the needs startup biotechnology and medical device companies.
